Section IX: Highly Advanced (Master/3rd Level, Closed Door) Empty Hand Forms
Advanced Level Students

While the following three forms might have been included in the last part of Section V (Advanced Empty Hand sets), there is enough to distinguish them from the others to class them in a section by themselves. As with many of Green Dragon's forms, these three are highly prized for their rarity, unusual features, and the skills they can develop. Available nowhere else.

Yeh Pao Ta Ts'ung Shu Lin
Honan Shaolin

Night Leopard Strikes from the Forest This Northern 5-Animal Honan Shaolin Leopard set is a truly rare and exceptional empty hand fighting set representing one of the two lesser known animals of the Honan temple System (Leopard and Snake are not as common in authentic Northern forms as are Dragon, Tiger, and Crane). Classical Northern Leopard material is not readily available, especially at the advanced level, & this particular set is no doubt among the most challenging that has come down through the past several centuries. Letters coming in from our ''extension family'' around the world-- many of whom had requested genuine Leopard animal forms-- have praised this set in every sense. The form is smooth, fast, powerful, circular in nature (though on line as with most Northern sets), and very well balanced while at the same time tending to emphasize the distinctive Leopard (Leopard Fist) style of quick striking. Very highly recommended.

Tung Chui Tui Tieh Chan (Two-Man Set )
Northern 5-Animal Shaolin

A Brass Hammer on an Iron Anvil Known as ''Two fierce men pitted against each other'' this 2-man empty hand combat set from Northern 5-Animal Shaolin is just what the title suggests! While not as long as some of Green Dragon's 2-man forms, this one requires and builds excellent strength and stamina, hardens the body, and develops powerful techniques all while providing the solution to the timing and distancing problems normally associated with fast and complicated 2-man work. Techniques employed are both linear (centerline) and angular, both circular (deflective) and power-on-power, both long and short range. When executed with speed and power it closely approximates a true combat situation!! Very dynamic and developmentally challenging.

Chung-Li Chui Yao Mo Kuei Kuai
Eight Drunken Immortals

Chung-Li Chases Monsters and Ghosts Any of the legitimate forms from the Eight Drunken Immortals styles is hard to master since they require the development of skills not normally associated with other styles. The ability to strike hard and fast from uncomfortable positions and postures, to appear severely unbalanced while actually in perfect control, and the flexibility necessary to do the jumping, rolling, and falling that Drunken forms contain are just some of the things that make the training approach to Drunken style different in terms of time, effort, and commitment. Of all the Drunken sets, this is one of the most demanding. Liberally translated as Chung-Li Chases Monsters and Ghosts (Evil Spirits) of All Kinds, this set represents a wide cross-section of the moves and combinations for which Eight Drunken Immortals is famous, as well as many which are not well known since this is a ''closed door'' form! Not recommended for beginning students. As indicated by the title, the content of this little known set heavily stresses the developmental aspects of Drunken movement, and, as such, has many gymnastic combinations more challenging than would be the case otherwise. Excellent program of combat applications.

Kang Tun Ch'in Ch'uan
Pa Chi Ch'uan

Armor and Shield Piercing Form Not unlike the prevalent Tams System, the hard, dynamic northern style of Pa Chi Ch'uan (Eight Ultimate Fist Style) has contributed major structural elements to many other Kung-Fu systems. It is believed by some that it was originated to develop such extreme striking power that a highly trained fighter could punch right through the different types of heavy bamboo body armor worn by troops of various emperors. Green Dragon brings you the Master's level set from this unusual style. From 1979-1989, the staff of Green Dragon had the opportunity to share in public demonstrations with several well-known Chinese teachers who are chief proponents of this style, including the Master who is reputed to be the best living instructor of this type of kung-fu. On these occasions, the performers were filmed for our video library and, when combined with other GD video records from kung-fu tournaments we've attended where Pa Chi was displayed, we have personally witnessed a good half-dozen Pa Chi fighting sets considered to be at the higher level in this style. In a phrase, all six of these put together could not equal the variety, versatility, and demands of this one set - characteristics to be expected of a Master's Level form! Properly done, this one set is a workout all by itself! It requires great energy and stamina to perform, but it will build remarkable strength and endurance into the body over time, as well as achieve its primary function: extremely forceful punching, blocking, and striking power.
